Yosemitie - Visit Yosemite National Park

The first time that I visited Yosemitie National Park it was really an accident. My wife and I were at Lake Tahoe for an Eagles concert and I noticed that Yosemitie was relatively close on a map. Now I had always wanted to see Yosemite but had never been even remotely close enough to think about taking a trip there, but here I was, close enough to visit. So my wife and I packed the convertible and headed off on a day trip to the park. When we came into Yosemitie it was early in the morning. We took the upper road through the lesser known part of Yosemite and really enjoyed all the mountains and lakes that were along the road. Once we got into the valley we were treated to a lot of cool sights, such as El Capitan, Half Dome and Bridal Veil Falls. Here is what I learned from the experience.

If you are going to take a vacation to Yosemite then you will want to experience more of the park than just the valley section. In fact, driving down in the valley was crowded and hot while the rest of the park was very calm and peaceful. The only stressful part of our visit to Yosemite apart from the traffic in the valley was the hike down to the giant Sequoia trees, although the hike was well worth it. If you are adventurous there are a lot of things that Yosemitie has to offer including backpacking, hiking and rock climbing as well as taking a sightseeing tour.

Lodging at Yosemitie is good, but it is a rather secluded area. You have a lot of hotel and motel choices, most of the cheap, but you can also camp. Camping is great inside the park and gives you a chance to slow down and spend some time with the family. You could also rent a place at the resort or lodge if you like, but no matter what you do while you are there or where you stay just take your time and enjoy the visit to YosemitieNationalPark.
